About ARC
We've been in this story for a long time.
Somewhere around 1995, a kid opened a book and disappeared into it.
Not because there was nothing else to do — there was always something else to do. But because a great story does something no other medium can. It puts you inside the world. It makes the characters feel like people you know. It makes the stakes feel real.
That feeling never left us.
For over thirty years, we've watched the way people consume stories change dramatically. The internet arrived. Social media followed. Then the algorithm — endlessly optimized, endlessly hungry — arrived and rewired the way the world chases entertainment. Today, a fifteen-second video competes with a chapter. A reel competes with a novel. The scroll never stops.
We're not here to judge any of it. We love great content in every form.
But we noticed something missing. In a world that rewards the fast hit, the slow burn of a brilliant story — the kind that makes you stay up too late and think about characters for weeks — was getting harder to find and easier to abandon.
We wanted to change that.
The idea behind ARC
What if reading felt as engaging as watching? What if the story actually responded to you?
ARC was built on a simple belief: the best stories aren't ones you passively consume. They're ones you live in. The kind where your choices matter. Where the protagonist's next move depends on yours. Where two readers can start the same book and arrive at completely different endings.
We combined something old with something new — the craft of real authors with the intelligence of machine learning — to create a reading experience that has never existed before.
Here's how it works: a real author sets the stage. They build the world, develop the characters, establish the emotional stakes. Then the reader steps in and begins to steer. ARC's technology works behind the scenes to make the story branch naturally, to honor the author's voice while following the reader's choices, to create something that feels authored and alive at the same time.
The author's voice leads. The technology follows.
For readers who don't have two hours — and readers who do
We also know that life doesn't always make room for long-form reading. That's why we built Shorts — three to ten minute stories designed to give you a complete, meaningful experience in the time it takes to scroll through a feed.
Think of it as reclaiming your commute. Your lunch break. The five minutes before you fall asleep.
Shorts aren't summaries or excerpts. They're original stories built specifically for the format — tight, immersive, and shaped by your choices. The same engagement. A fraction of the time.
Built by readers, for readers
We didn't come from tech. We came from thirty years of caring deeply about stories — how they're told, how they travel, how they change the people who experience them.
ARC is what happens when that obsession meets what's now possible.
We believe reading is one of the most human things we do. And we believe the best days of storytelling aren't behind us — they're ahead of us, in forms we're only beginning to imagine.
We're glad you're here.
We hope you enjoy the ride.
