Kingship
Romance Comedy
Moses King has never had to work for anything he wanted. He arrives at Winbrook University as a junior transfer with two years of eligibility, a highlight reel that makes coaches lean forward, and a reputation he built on purpose. Nine days into camp he is listed third on the depth chart, which he assumes is temporary, and he is right about that. Everything else, he has wrong. Then he meets Chloe Sinclair on the fourth floor of the library and runs the same approach that has never once failed him. She laughs at him. She tells him her name. And then she goes back to her book, because she came there to read, and she never asks what he does. Nobody has failed to ask in six years. What Moses does not know yet is that Chloe is dating Tre Jones, the star running back whose number is painted on the weight room wall, the model Christian athlete this campus has believed in since he was a freshman. Tre is everything Moses is pretending to be, and Tre is not what he looks like, and the only people who could say so have too much to lose. Moses came to Winbrook to start. He is about to find out he doesn't know who he is without the jersey, without the attention, without a room that's glad he walked in. And that wanting something good is not the same as being good.
